Scopes:
Asphalt Paving Subcontractor:
- Perform temporary asphalt patching after trench backfill.
- Sawcut edges and prep trench for final paving.
- Install base and binder courses as required by Providence DPW.
- Install final hot-mix asphalt to match existing pavement thickness.
- Compact all lifts to DPW standards.
- Perform infrared seam heating for moratorium streets
- Install temporary pavement markings until final epoxy markings.
- Clean site and remove all spoil and debris.
Concrete / Sidewalk Subcontractor:
- Remove and replace concrete sidewalks following City of Providence standard details.
- Replace full sidewalk panels (no partial patches).
- Install ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps where required.
- Install detectable warning panels per ADA/RI standards.
- Replace concrete driveways and aprons to match thickness and finish.
- Restore proper slopes to prevent ponding of water.
- Form, place, finish, and cure concrete per Section 03301
Landscaping / Lawn Restoration Subcontractor:
- Strip, remove, and dispose of unsuitable topsoil.
- Install screened topsoil meeting spec requirements.
- Fine grade disturbed areas to match existing contours.
- Seed with approved RI standard mix; apply mulch and fertilizer.
- Water and maintain until lawn establishment meets acceptance criteria.
- Replace shrubs/vegetation disturbed during excavation (if applicable).
Granite Curb Subcontractor:
- Remove/reset existing granite curb where disturbed.
- Install new 7″ wide granite curb where required.
- Install 2-ft radius granite curb returns at driveways and ADA ramps.
- Backfill and compact behind curb per DPW standards.
- Deliver excess curb to DPW yard (if required by permit).
- Ensure all curb lines match existing grade and alignment.
Striping / Pavement Markings Subcontractor:
- Install temporary pavement markings after paving.
- Furnish and install final epoxy pavement markings per DPW standards.
- Perform layout of centerlines, stop bars, lane lines, and crosswalks.
- Remove temporary markings as required.
Traffic Control Subcontractor:
- Provide trained/qualified flaggers per MUTCD.
- Furnish traffic signs, cones, drums, and barricades.
- Maintain safe pedestrian detours around sidewalk work.
- Coordinate with City for police details (admin, not labor).
- Install temporary sidewalk closures when needed.
Water Service Line Materials:
- Type K Copper tubing (ASTM B88, NSF 61)
- Polyethylene CTS water service tubing (PE 3408) for runs >100 ft
- Brass compression fittings (AWWA C800)
- Approved dielectric couplings (Harco or equal)
- Corporation stops (ASTM B62, AWWA C800, lead-free)
- Curb stops and curb boxes, including stainless steel rods
- Warning tape
- Electrical grounding clamps/components
- Sediment/erosion control materials
- Pitcher filters (Brita, PUR, Zero Water, etc.) + 6-month cartridges
- Pipe sleeves
- Penetration sealant
- Swell strips (for waterproofing)
- Insulation tape
- Epoxy/grout
- Mechanical sleeves
- Epoxy-coated ductile iron tapping saddles, double-strap SS hardware
Backfill/paving materials:
- Granular Fill (Processed)
- Bank Run Gravel or Equivalent
- Crushed Stone – ¾” minus or 3/8″ stone
- Pipe Bedding Material – Clean, angular stone
- Select Backfill – Free of clay, organics, debris
- Hot-mix asphalt (HMA)
- Base course
- Temporary asphalt
- Infrared asphalt seam repair
- Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) 4,000 psi
- Wire mesh or rebar
- ADA-compliant detectible warning panels for ramps
- 7-inch granite curb
- 2-foot radius granite returns for curb cuts
